‘Sight by side’: what those who have to go have taken; what those at home would miss From December 15 to January 7, 2021, the inhabitants of Palma and its surroundings will be able to discover ‘Sight by side’, a selection of photographs taken by Catalan Guillem Trius and Ugandan Esther Ruth Mbabazi, winners of the first ‘Sight by side’ contest , convened by the Directorate General for Development and Cooperation of the European Commission. The award of the contest has taken these two artists for fifteen days to Uganda, the African country that receives the most refugees, to develop a photographic project that makes known the inequalities that exist in this territory, and the projects developed by the fund European Trust Fund for Africa to mitigate them. Guillem Trius has focused on the host communities and Esther Ruth Mbazazi on the refugees from South Sudan. Each of them has posed a very simple but powerful question. Guillem asked the local population what they would most miss if one day they had to flee as shelters; instead, Esther was interested in why they had been taken away when forced to leave their homes.
