The first exiles of the Civil War, 1936’ deals with a little-known issue of the Civil War. In February 1939, while nearly 450,000 people crossed the French border to take refuge in France, more than 30,000 Catalans who had fled in the summer of 1936 began to arrive in the Principality. The exhibition will also focus on President Lluís Companys and will highlight his role in the protection of people fleeing the revolutionary violence of the summer of 1936.
