Thematic

Located in the center of Palafrugell, the Cork Museum is presented as a unique institution due to its theme, its territorial scope and its vocation for service. It acquires, conserves, interprets and enhances the heritage structured around the world of cork in Catalonia, as a shaper of a common landscape, an industry, ways of life and a common identity.
Here is the proposal to contribute to the social, economic and cultural development of the community; offer support to formal education and provide informal education; as an alternative to creativity and leisure The Cork Museum is located in an old cork factory, the most important industrial sector in Spain. It has, in addition to a relevant past within the sector, some common elements in cork oak constructions that, in fact, are functional buildings without concessions to decorative elements or the participation of recognized architects. This aspect has a more relevant aspect of the whole in which modern elements are eliminated, oversized and structured.
The Cork Museum also manages the Interpretation Center of the Can Mario Modernist Warehouse and also the Monumental Complex of San Sebastián de la Guarda in Llafranc.
